How it works

  1. 1

Tell us when you're in class

Tap your class times on a weekly grid. It takes about a minute, and you can change it any time.

  2. 2

    Browse shifts that fit

Listings are sorted by how well they fit your week, with pay and distance up front. Filter by category, distance or minimum pay.

  3. 3

Apply in a couple of taps

Your profile is your application. Attach a resume if you want to, then track every reply on your Applications page.

For students

  • Schedule-first matching. No more applying to jobs that clash with your labs.
  • Know what you'll earn. The Earnings tab adds up weekly and semester pay, and helps you set a monthly goal.
  • Honest, anonymous reviews from students who worked there, including how they treat new hires.

For local businesses

  • Post a shift for free and pick exactly which time slots you need covered.
  • See who's actually available. Applicants tell you which of your shifts they can work.
  • Simple applicant tracking. Move people from Applied to Interview to Offer in one place.

    Terms of Service

    Last updated: October 28, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and StudentShift ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using StudentShift you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

    1. What StudentShift is

StudentShift is a marketplace that helps college students find part-time shifts at nearby businesses. We are not an employer, staffing agency or party to any job. Any hiring decision, job offer, wage, schedule or working condition is solely between the student and the business.

    2. Who can use it

You must be at least 16 years old. If you are under 18, you confirm a parent or guardian has agreed to these Terms for you. Businesses must be legally able to hire in their location.

    3. Your account

Give accurate information and keep it up to date. Keep your password private; you are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us right away at support@studentshift.com if you think someone else has access. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.

    4. Students

Only apply for shifts you can actually work. Your profile, answers and resume are shared with the business when you apply. Be respectful and honest in reviews.

    5. Businesses

Post only real, open positions. You are responsible for following all employment laws, including minimum wage, overtime, breaks, youth-employment rules, anti-discrimination laws and workplace safety. Use applicant information only to consider them for the job you posted, and don't share or sell it.

    6. Things you may not do

Post false or misleading listings, impersonate anyone, harass or discriminate, ask applicants for payment, collect data from the site with bots or scrapers, try to break or get around security, or use StudentShift for anything illegal. See our Community guidelines.

    7. Reviews and content

You own what you post. You give us permission to show it on StudentShift so the service works. We may remove content or accounts that break these Terms or our guidelines.

    8. Pay estimates and budgeting tools

Earnings, pay goals and budget figures are estimates based on what you and businesses enter. They are not financial, tax or legal advice and may differ from what you are actually paid.

    9. Paid features

If we offer paid features, the price and billing terms will be shown before you pay. You can cancel any subscription before its next billing date.

    10. No warranties

StudentShift is provided "as is" and "as available". We check listings, but we don't guarantee any listing, business, applicant, job or outcome, or that the service will always be available or error-free.

    11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, StudentShift is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for anything that happens between students and businesses. Where liability can't be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months, or $50 if you paid nothing.

    12. Ending your account

You can stop using StudentShift and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.

    13. Changes

We may update these Terms. If the changes are important we'll let you know on the site or by email. Using StudentShift after changes means you accept them.

    14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the state where StudentShift is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

    Privacy Policy

    Last updated: October 28, 2026

This policy explains what information StudentShift collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

    1. Information we collect

Account: name, email, password (stored only as a secure hash by our login provider), optional phone number, and whether you are a student, business or admin.
Student profile: school, year, major, skills, bio, class schedule, job preferences, applications and your answers, resume (if you upload one), reviews you write, pay goal and budget entries.
Business profile: business name, category, address, description and the shifts you post.
Activity: when you log in and when you were last active on the site, and which screen you're on while the site is open (used for our team's "Online now" view).

    2. How we use it

To run the service: match students with shifts, send applications to businesses, show reviews, keep accounts secure, fix problems, contact you about your account, and improve StudentShift. We do not use your information for advertising.

    3. Who can see it

Businesses see what you send when you apply (profile, answers, phone if given, resume if included). Reviews are posted anonymously: other students see the review but not who wrote it, and businesses can't see reviews at all. Our admins can see account information to run and protect the service.

    4. Service providers

We use Supabase (database, login and file storage) and Netlify (website hosting) to run StudentShift. They process data only on our behalf. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context advertising.

    5. How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, your profile, applications, reviews, resume and login history are deleted right away; backups held by our providers are removed on their normal schedule.

    6. Your rights

You can see and correct your information in Profile and Settings, download a copy (Settings → Your data), and delete your account (Settings → Delete account). Depending on where you live, including California (CCPA/CPRA) and other U.S. states, you may also have the right to know, correct, delete and port your data, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We don't sell or share data, and we won't treat you differently for using your rights. Email support@studentshift.com for any request.

    7. Children

StudentShift is not for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

    8. Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are never stored in plain text. Access to data is limited by account type. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and keep it private.

    9. Cookies and local storage

We only use storage that's needed for the site to work. See Cookies & storage.

    10. Changes

If we change this policy in an important way we'll let you know on the site or by email.

    Cookies & storage

    Last updated: October 28, 2026

StudentShift doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't use third-party analytics.

What we store in your browser

Login session: keeps you signed in (set by our login provider, Supabase). Removed when you sign out.
Color mode: remembers if you chose light or dark mode.
Short-lived notices: for example, a message confirming your account was deleted.

    Fonts

Our fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address to deliver them. Google's privacy policy applies.

    Your choices

Because this storage is needed for the site to work, there's no opt-out banner. You can clear it any time in your browser settings; you'll be signed out.

    Community guidelines

    Last updated: October 28, 2026

StudentShift works because students and businesses trust each other. Please:

    Be real

Use your real name and accurate details. Businesses: post only real, open positions with honest pay and hours.

    Be respectful

No harassment, hate speech, threats, or discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability or any other protected trait.

    Keep it safe

Never ask applicants to pay a fee, buy equipment, share bank details or meet somewhere unsafe. Students: if something feels wrong, stop and report it.

    Reviews

Reviews are anonymous and only other students can read them. Review places you actually applied to or worked at. Stick to facts and your own experience. No personal information, insults or fake reviews. We may hide reviews that break these rules.

    Report a problem

Email support@studentshift.com with what happened. We review every report and may remove listings, reviews or accounts.

    Accessibility

    Last updated: October 28, 2026

We want StudentShift to work for everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or voice control.

    What we've done

Every page works with a keyboard (use Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter and the arrow keys in tab rows), with visible focus outlines and a "Skip to main content" link. Buttons and form fields have labels for screen readers, errors are announced, pop-ups keep focus inside and return it when closed, text meets WCAG 2.1 AA contrast, the site respects your device's "reduce motion" setting, and it works when zoomed to 200%.

    Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

    Feedback

If something is hard to use, email support@studentshift.com and tell us the page and what happened. We'll get back to you and work on a fix.

    Your privacy choices

    Last updated: October 28, 2026

Do not sell or share my personal information

StudentShift does not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising, so there's nothing to opt out of. If that ever changes, we'll add a switch here first.

See, download or delete your data

Signed-in users can download their data and delete their account in Settings. You can also email support@studentshift.com and we'll respond within 45 days.

    Global Privacy Control

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of sale and sharing.

    Report a problem

Our team reviews every report. The person you report won't see who reported them.
